Today was my first day ever in the OR!
I shadowed the skin cancer specialist again. I got to watch him stitch up some open wounds where he had sliced out the cancer. One was on a woman’s nose/cheek, and the other was on a woman’s eye lid/eye brow. Very delicate locations! The doctor used dissolvable stitches and puckered the skin up so that when the scars heal, they will sink back to the normal level. He sewed with such steady and precise hands! It was truly incredible to watch.
And we even jammed to awesome surgeon music. Like, Mumford and Sons and Coldplay, etc. It was awesome. I felt like I was on Grey’s. Hizzah!
